U.S. and Mexican trade negotiators are on the verge of reducing bilateral disputes over the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the talks will resume on Monday, according to the Mexican economy minister.

Talks between the two sides focused on drafting new rules for the automobile industry, which Trump is putting it at the heart of his effort to rewrite the deal, which he says it was a disaster for American workers. The Mexican foreign minister said Canada would return once bilateral issues were resolved.

Since the Mexican presidential election on July 1, bilateral talks have been complicated due to divisions between outgoing administrations and the current administration over energy policy. Trump said earlier that his country could reach an agreement with Mexico soon.
