UK Unemployment settles and wages rise

The unemployment rate in UK stabilized at 4% in July as expected, and the number of working people rose by about 3,000 during the three months to August, against expectations of 27,000 people.

The number claimant count rose to 8.7 thousand in August compared to the number registered in the three months to July by about 10.2K people after a revision of 6.2K people.

Also, average earnings excluding bonuses rose by 2.9% on a yearly basis in the three months to July versus expectations of a 2.8% rise following a 2.7% rise last month. The average earnings including bonuses rose by 2.6% on a yearly basis.

The Sterling Pound rose following the data to hit its highest level since August 2 at 1.3086 before settling currently at 1.3034.
