PBOC adviser: Yuan hitting 7.00 to dollar isn't that importance

In an interview with Bloomberg, the PBOC adviser confirmed that yuan hitting $7 level is not that importance. His most prominent comments were as follows:

  • Whether or not the yuan reached $7.00 a dollar, "this is not an embarrassment"
  • Traders agreed to the flexibility of the currency exchange rate
  • The two-way yuan fluctuation is very similar to the rest of the other major currencies
  • The media should not be interested in having a minimum level of currency levels
