Madrid chasing the leader of Catalonia again

The Spanish prosecutor today sought to re-activate the arrest warrant against former Catalonia leader Carles Puigdemont, in light of his first trip to Denmark from self-imposed Belgium, which he had chosen for himself before Spanish authorities arrested him.

Puigdemont traveled to Brussels last October after being sacked by the central government and charged with inciting an illegal referendum and unilateral declaration of independence. Puigdemont is the top candidate to lead Catalonia again after last month's election that gave the separatist parties a majority.

It is expected that the announcement will be made today through the Catalan parliament speaker on the candidate for government leadership and is expected to be Puigdemont. The Speaker of Parliament stated that Carles Puigdemontcan be re-elected and ruled the region from Brussels, but the Spanish government will not allow it.
