Kuroda: BoJ will maintain low yields for an extended period

19 Sep 2018 11:38 AM

Haruhiko Kuroda, Governor of the Bank of Japan following the monetary policy decision, said:

  • Have maintained Yield Curve Control (YCC) policy in today's meeting.
  • Have maintained negative yield policy, and 10-year government bonds yields target.
  • The Japanese economy is expanding moderately.
  • The world economy is also continuing to grow.
  • I expect the local economy to continue expanding.
  • I expect CPI to pick up towards the target at 2%.
  • It is too early to assess the impact of the changes since the July meeting on Japanese government bonds (JGB).
  • Trading activity is usually less in summer.
  • A drop in ETFs purchasing in August does not mean a shift in policy.
  • It is necessary to continue with the current powerful easing policy.
