Kuroda reappointed as a Governor of BOJ for a new term

Haruhiko Kuroda continued in his office as a governor of the Bank of Japan for a new five-year term. His choice comes amid growing concern in Japanese and global financial markets, driven partly by market speculation about how quickly major central banks will reduce monetary stimulus programs.

Kuroda's reappointment would make him the longest-serving governor of the Bank of Japan in 50 years, a sign of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's confidence in Kuroda's ability to take Japan's economy out of recession. Kuroda's current mandate expires in April.
