Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conti and his top ministers discussed the 2019 budget yesterday and agreed that it would maintain the stability of state funding and reduce public debt, according to the prime minister's office.

Conte assessed the economic situation and the budget with Economy Minister Giovanni Tria and leaders of the LEGA party and the five-star movement, the two parties formed the ruling coalition.

Italian government stocks and bonds have been under pressure in recent days due to Turkey's financial turmoil and market fears that spending plans in Rome will push the public debt higher, which is already high.
