Brigitte Zypries, the German Minister of Economy, on tariffs proposed by the United States, made the following statement:
- The situation is serious regarding to new tariffs.
- I hope Trump will change his mind about the new tariffs.
- The EU will respond appropriately to US tariffs, but our goal is to avoid a trade war.
- There is close consultation among EU Member States on this issue.
- Trade creates wealth when it is based on exchange and cooperation.
