Martin Schulz, leader of the Social Democrats, said his party wanted to renegotiate issues that the coalition had agreed with conservatives during the formal coalition talks, which the center-left party narrowly voted for.
He said he would meet with Angela Merkel this evening to discuss how to move forward, after his party approved last weekend formal talks. The SPD wants to make improvements to the plan agreed upon with the Conservatives to persuade reluctant party members who will vote on any final coalition agreement.
