European Commission: EU has the right to retaliate against US imports

The European Commission has announced that the European Union has the right to take immediate retaliatory measures against imports of US products by about 50% of EU steel exports to the United States, which will harm Trump's plan to impose a new tariff.

A report said fees could be levied without waiting for WTO dispute settlement procedures, meaning that if the EU wanted to do so, they can actually do it now, and it would not bode well for market sentiment.

The list of products may include steel products, industrial products, agricultural products, and processed agricultural products, the report said.
