Eurozone car sales rose by 3.4% in last year to 15 million vehicles, the highest level since 2007, according to data released Wednesday by the European Automobile Manufacturers Association.

Growth was mainly driven by the 7.9% gain in the Italian market and the 7.7% rise in Spain, which managed to offset the 5.7% fall in the UK. On a monthly basis, car sales in the euro area fell by 4.9% around 1.08 million cars in December.
