Euro Zone economy expanding better than expected

The euro zone economy grew better than expected in the second quarter, signaling that the negative effects of global trade tensions could only emerge later in the year. However, the economy grew by 0.4% on quarterly basis and by 2.2% on yearly basis.

If these figures are confirmed by the final data to be announced on September 7, it will appear that the Eurozone maintained its 0.4% growth during the first two quarters of the year. Better than expected estimates could boost the ECB's confidence in reducing its bond buying program.
