European Central Bank member Couere expects European interest rates to stabilize at low levels for a long period of time. His most prominent comments were as follows:

  • I do not see any reason to believe that future inflation risks have declined permanently.
  • The quantitative easing program will not continue forever.
  • The European Central Bank must be patient and wise.
  • We will not rush to end the quantitative easing program.
  • Foreign exchange fluctuations may lead to undue tightening.
  • Currency war is always a loser proposition.
