China blames the United States for largest-scale trade war

The United States and China imposed a $ 34 billion tariff on imports from each other that went into effect on Friday, and China accused the United States of causing the biggest ever trade war in a sharp escalation of their months-long conflict.

Hours before the deadline set by the United States for the tariffs to take effect, US President Donald Trump raised the situation, warning that the United States may eventually target more than 500 billion dollars of Chinese goods or the equivalent of the total volume of US imports from China during last year.

Chinese Ministry of Commerce said in a statement shortly after the US deadline expired at 4 am GMT on Friday that it was forced to retaliate, meaning that US imported goods worth $ 34 billion, including cars and agricultural products, also faced a tariff by 25%.
