Barkindo: Demand for oil will be strong at least until 2040

6 Mar 2018 12:51 PM

Mohamed Barkindo, Secretary General of OPEC, made the following statement:

  • Everyone benefited from OPEC-led production cuts.
  • Demand has not been this solid and positive for a long time.
  • The international oil industry needs to focus on the long-term investment cycle.
  • I see demand to remain strong on oil at least until 2040.
  • OPEC's alliance with non-OPEC members is a policy of insurance against future price volatility.
  • Institutionalization of OPEC's alliance with non-member states is moving forward.
  • OPEC's alliance with non-member countries is open to all producers.
