Australian CPI up by 0.4% in the third quarter

Australia's consumer price index rose 0.4% in the third quarter, according to data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, coming less than expectation at 0.5% after rising at the same pace in the second quarter. On the other hand, the core consumer price index, excluding food and energy, rose by 0.4% QoQ and 1.9% yoy.

International flights and vacation stays were the highest in the quarter, rising 4.3%. While childcare saw the worst fall in the quarter after the childcare subsidy, with a drop of 11.8%. Property prices rose 2.3%, auto fuel rose 1.4%.
