The Brexit deal could be a model for countries that want to join the EU

The German foreign minister said that the EU's agreement with Britain on future relations after the departure of Britain could serve as a model for relations with other countries wishing to join the European Union such as Ukraine and Turkey.

Britain has been approved by the European Union to start future relationship talks mid of December, and Britain aspires to establish a closer relationship as a former member and not like any other country. Turkey has been trying for decades to join the European Union, but already has a customs union with the EU that allows most goods to be traded duty-free.

Agreement on free trade between Ukraine and EU formally came into force in September, which allows free trade of goods, services, capital and short-term travel insurance.
